Prepare for your career Sheridan's Electronics Engineering Technician/Technology program graduates are employed in many career path jobs in a variety of industries. Employers know that our Electronics Engineering graduates enter the workforce with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills to be productive from their first day on the job. An industry-relevant curriculum Sheridan stays current with the latest technology, so you'll work directly with the same equipment and techniques you'll encounter in the electronics engineering industry. You'll gain first-hand experience with power and energy systems, signal processing, computer simulation, digital communications, circuit board design, control systems, microcontrollers and embedded systems. Advanced work and learning opportunities Students can graduate after two years with an Electronics Engineering Technician diploma, or continue for an optional third year to pursue a Technology advanced diploma. If you do opt for the third year, you'll have the opportunity to apply for a paid, co-op work placement in electronics engineering that enables you to earn while you learn. (Enrolment limited through co-op application process.) Additional information Through hands-on experiments and project-based assignments in our open-concept electronics engineering laboratories, you'll learn to think creatively, solve problems and collaborate effectively on multidisciplinary teams. All students in this program work on laptop computers and have round-the-clock online access to lecture notes and other subject material. You can work on projects outside of class time, collaborate on group projects from home, and spend extra time studying and mastering the material. Graduates have completed all the academic requirements for professional certification with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT). Additional requirements for certification exist and are established by OACETT. Sheridan Electronics Engineering Technician/Technology program graduates frequently develop their own businesses or serve as freelance consultants.
